On September 16th, SHARE held a series of meetings in half hour blocks from 12pm to 1:30
Our agenda was as follows:
Steps system education: We talked about why we want this and looked for feedback from members. We discussed how steps may impact individual members especially in the first year and how smoothly it will be implemented year over year going forward.
Initial platforming in the first year: We talked in hypotheticals about how this could look. Some members receiving the majority of the raise in their hourly rate and some members may have their raise be bonused out- same amount of money, but in a bonus check. It all depends on where members land when being placed in the new ranges, if eventually agreed upon in negotiations and by membership through contract ratification.
Contract Campaign: We discussed the upcoming plans for a contract action. This will show solidarity among SHARE members and let management know that we are all in this together, and connected to this process and eachother.
Negotiations Update: UMass Chan Management and the SHARE negotiating team continue to discuss financial issues and make proposals. We met on September 8th and are scheduled to meet again tomorrow, the 24th.
