Member Meeting Recap: March 25th, 2026

On Wednesday, March 25th, SHARE held back-to-back half-hour meetings for members, at 12:00, 12:30, and 1:00. People dropped in on their lunch break. For those who were not able to attend there is a summary below. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Per the data and results from our contract negotiations survey, SHARE members indicated that they would like more information on how step raises work. With this being an identified priority for our contract negotiations, we devoted most of our member meeting to providing additional education about this raise system.

  • The Basics: A Steps Raise system is typically defined as having 2 separate and predictable increases in one year, one based on service and the other based on a negotiated increase.

  • ATB or Across the Board Raise: This is the raise we have come to know as our yearly raise, that arrives in July. This is the negotiated increase, as a result of SHARE and UMass Chan coming to an agreement on a contract which includes annual raises.

  • Anniversary Raise: In addition to the ATB, an annual increase would come through automatically when you have reached your yearly anniversary for working at UMass Chan. Eg: If you were hired on March 13th, every year on March 13th, you would receive this increase. This is the increase that would move you up a “step” in the pay grade.

We hope to discuss these, and the other priorities identified by SHARE members as our contract negotiations continue. We will keep you updated.
